Lotusland Gala — Life-Size Crane Folding Demonstration

On July 27, 2019, Robert folded a life-size origami red-crowned crane at Ganna Walska Lotusland’s annual gala, Memoirs of a Garden. Working from a single uncut ten-foot square of unryu foil paper, he brought the folding process onto the Grand Lawn as guests gathered to celebrate the reopening of the Japanese Garden.

The demonstration accompanied a celebration supporting the garden’s care and conservation work. It followed the earlier Lotusland exhibition, extending Robert’s participation from the display of finished origami to the process through which a large sheet becomes a living form.
